    AIRFARE DEALS

I just got airfare for the Triumph leaving Detroit to Miami for $60.00 round trip thru Spirit. I would like to see a group discussion on AIRFARE because i sure do spend a lot of time trying to track down good and cheap airfare.

    That's a great deal!

I too spend my time checking the airfare before booking. It does us no good to get a great deal on a cruise but have to spend too much on a flight to get to that port.

    $60 is really really good!

    Happy Cruising! :) Trish

    Re: AIRFARE DEALS

We had quite a blessing, Every year I book our airfare as soon as fares are available to purchase for our cruise the following year, usually 330 days prior. In April of this year I bought 4 r/t airline tickets on Midwest Airlines for $1700.00. In August I was notified that Midwest airline was no longer serving Ft.Lauderdale. The reason we always used Midwest was because they were non-stop r/t from our departure city.  So now I was left to figuring out new airline tickets and was sure all the cheap seats were gone.  About 3 days later I read in the paper that AirTran was now flying the same service non-stop, I contacted them and could not believe the price. Much to my surprise I saved $1,000, I now purchased 4 r/t tickets for around $700.00 literally the same flight times.  I already recieved my original $1700 refunded to my credit card from Midwest. WoooHooo!!! more Bar money!!Big Smile

I too use Airtran alot, they offer great deals.  I use Spirit but not as much.  Spirit doesn't provide beverages, or snacks and they charge per bag.  Its really not that much more to purchase your own beverages i think $2.00 per soda, but its the prinicipal.  All other airlines provide at least a soda.   I do also like Frontier Airlines, they have the built in TV's.  All three companies are normally 1/2 price of the other major airlines.

    Re: AIRFARE DEALS

I just prefer the non-stop flights they offer. This is our first time booking with a discount carrier, I realize I might not get the same perks as I'm used to getting but what the heck! The $1,000 I saved just about covers the cruise fare cost for our 2 boys.

I fly Airtran quite a bit, but recently have found the deals, and the flights that work best for me on JetBlue.  Only thing that is a drag is JetBlue doesn't fly out of Manchester, NH so I have to go to Boston but for what I am paying for air, definately worth it.  Also find, at least from New England, that air is cheaper to Ft Lauderdale than Miami.  Even when cruising out of Miami I fly into Ft. Lauderdale since is around $100 less per person than flying into Miami.  Go figure.  Oh, and I love the little tv's on JetBlue and that you have the option to watch on google map where you are heading to.  I love it.

Four more days and I will be flying into and cruising from Tampa for the first time.  Back to backs on the Inspiration.  Can hardly wait.  We had SNOW yesterday.  It is still fall and winter already sucks this year... Sad

FORTUNATELY we didn't get anywhere near that amount of snow.  Think New York is the state that really got hammered.  I've only been in New Hampshire around five years and October is just way too early for snow... have a feeling that it is going to be another long, never ending winter.

Re: back to backs, for anything under 7-nights we only do back to backs, other wise with the cost of air, doesn't make it worth it to fly down for anything less...

    Happy cruising!  Cool

    Laurie:
I just got airfare for the Triumph leaving Detroit to Miami for $60.00 round trip thru Spirit.

Wow, how and where did you find that great of a price for airline tickets?  We even thought of flying out of Flint/Bishop in Michigan as it seemed a bit cheaper.  We prefer MBS tho as it is closer to home for us.  I even checked flight prices from Detroit to Miami and never came anywhere close to that price for our last cruise.  Plus we would have to pay for parking at Detroit Metro too.  People that live closer to the Ports and can drive are far better off then those of us that have to pay airfare, hotel accomodations so we don't miss the ship, and the cost of the cruise.  The cruise prices are great...it's the airfare that's a killer. Sad

    Re: AIRFARE DEALS

I received an email from Yahoo Travel offering special deals and one was Spirit with a list of dates you could travel and my dates were on the lists.  I would sign up for the travel companies to alert you to low airfares, such as Yahoo Travel, Expedia, Etc.

I have to tell everyone that we flew Continential from Detroit to Houston.  This is by far the best service we have ever received on any plane.  We have flown alot of different airlines.  Continential was great.....I even sent in a comment card.

    Re: AIRFARE DEALS

I fly Airtran almost exclusively.  Jetblue doesn't really offer convenient flights from Pittsburgh to Florida, and no non-stop.  We were on the Valor in Sept, and I was talking to someone that flew r/t from Michigan to FLL for $9.  Some $9 fare club.  I think she pays $35 a year to get these fares.  She doesn't get them all the time, but when she does, she books airfare for her whole group.
