hotels in new orleans close to cruise ship terminals

I am booked for a cruise 10/18/2008 (first cruise), I am looking for a resonably priced hotel close to the cruise ship terminal. Are there any within walking distance? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am from Louisiana about 35 miles northwest of NOLA and I can assure you that you will find something within walking distance or short cab ride, but I'm not sure what you mean by reasonably priced?  If you could give me an idea I could look for you????Big Smile

I just looked at a map and I would say NO, but you could take a short taxi ride to it I'm sure.

We stayed at the Hilton on Riverwalk.  It actually is connected directly to the Cruise Terminal.  It was raining the day we boarded so the hotel drove us around the corner (literally) to the entrance of the cruise terminal.  In September of 2001 the rate for 1 night was $200.  It is super nice and connected also to the Riverwalk Mall.   The view from our room looked out over the Mississippi where the ship was docked.  Super nice.

Are you planning on boarding the ship & then getting back off to tour the french quarter??? It may be possible to get back off the ship after you've boarded, but I would think it would be a hassle. They are trying to get thousands of people on the ship at that time & it's hard enough to get everyone through security & check in without people going through twice. I would recommend doing my sightseeing before going to the cruise terminal. Besides, once you're on the ship, you won't want to leave.  Smile  Three days 'til you cruise....I'm jealous.
